The 2014 international MATE competition is scheduled for June 26-28 in the town of Alpena, Michigan. This year, we also entered the regional competition in Long Beach, California on May 10. The regional acts as a qualifier for the international competition. We basically have to show that the robot can submerge and move under its own power. In the past, we have done this via video chat. Since there was no NURC competition in 2014, we decided to drive to California and the do the event there.
Unfortunately, due to a last-minute epoxy job, our motor enclosures were not watertight and we did not qualify. This meant we were unable to compete at the international event.
